Reverse Osmosis Systems in Sugar Land

Licensed Sugar Land Plumbers Installing & Servicing RO Systems Since 1976

If you want cleaner, better-tasting drinking water at your kitchen tap, S&B Plumbing installs and services reverse osmosis systems for Sugar Land homeowners. We’ve been a licensed plumbing company in this community since 1976, now in our third generation as a family-owned business. Our team handles everything: system selection, under-sink installation, filter and membrane replacement, repairs, and ongoing maintenance. You won’t need a separate specialty provider.

Reverse osmosis forces water through a semipermeable membrane with extremely fine pores, removing dissolved contaminants that standard filtration can’t catch. The result is purified water delivered on demand at your tap. We size and select systems based on your household’s needs and budget, and we offer a free estimate to get started.

Ready for cleaner water at your tap? Call S&B Plumbing at (713) 360-0064 for a free estimate or to schedule a same-day appointment.

Sugar Land Water Quality & Why RO Makes Sense

Sugar Land’s municipal water meets all EPA and TCEQ standards and holds the TCEQ’s highest Superior rating. That’s a strong baseline. Even so, many homeowners want an added layer of treatment at the point of use, and the specifics of the local supply explain why.

Four Water Systems, One City

Sugar Land operates four independent water systems: Main, River Park, New Territory, and Greatwood. Your address determines which one supplies your home. The Main System, which serves First Colony, Sweetwater, and most of the city, disinfects with chloramines rather than free chlorine. Chloramine can produce a chemical taste and odor that standard carbon filtration doesn’t fully address. Water hardness across all four systems ranges from 34 to 211 parts per million (2.0 to 12.3 grains per gallon) per City-published data. That’s a wide-enough range to leave visible mineral deposits on fixtures and inside appliances, depending on where you live.

What RO Removes

Arsenic has been detected in some Sugar Land groundwater systems at levels below the EPA limit but above certain health-based guidelines. Reverse osmosis is one of the most effective reduction methods for arsenic, and it also reduces lead, nitrates, fluoride, and certain PFAS compounds that pass through carbon filters entirely. For households that want broad reduction of dissolved solids, a point-of-use RO system is a practical option.

Our Reverse Osmosis Services

We handle the full life cycle of a reverse osmosis system so you don’t have to track it yourself.

New System Installation
We install under-sink RO systems at the kitchen tap and can connect them to your refrigerator’s water and ice line in the same visit. Installation is handled by our licensed plumbers, so any water line work, shut-off valves, or fixture integration is covered without a second contractor.

Filter & Membrane Replacement
Pre-filters and post-filters generally need replacement annually. The RO membrane itself typically lasts two to three years depending on water quality and usage. We track those intervals through our Value Plan, which provides scheduled maintenance and priority service for water treatment systems. Staying on schedule helps keep your system performing as intended.

Repairs & System Upgrades
Low flow, leaks at the tank or fittings, pressure problems, and expired membranes are all issues we diagnose and repair. If your current system is outdated, we can evaluate whether a repair or a replacement is the better investment.

Same-day appointments are available, and financing is available through GreenSky for qualifying customers.

Why Sugar Land Homeowners Choose S&B Plumbing for Water Treatment

As a full-service licensed plumbing company, we handle RO installation alongside any related plumbing work in the same visit. There’s no need to coordinate a separate water treatment contractor and a plumber. That matters when an installation requires modifying a water line, replacing a shut-off valve, or integrating with existing fixtures.

Since 1976, we’ve served more than 100,000 customers across Sugar Land and the surrounding Houston area. Several of our team members have been with us for over 15 years. That kind of tenure means the technician who installs your system understands your home’s broader plumbing, not just the equipment under your sink. We also offer earth-friendly water treatment options for households looking to reduce plastic bottle use and lower their environmental footprint. Same-day availability and prompt arrival mean you’re not left waiting when you need service.

How a Reverse Osmosis System Works

A modern RO system isn’t a single filter. It’s a staged process, and each stage targets a different category of contaminant. Understanding those stages makes it easier to see why RO is often used for dissolved contaminants.

Stage 1: Sediment Pre-Filter

Water first passes through a sediment filter that removes rust, silt, sand, and particulates. This protects the membrane from physical damage and extends its working life.

Stage 2: Carbon Filtration

A carbon filter reduces chlorine, chloramines, volatile organic compounds (VOCs), and other chemicals that affect taste and odor. This stage also protects the RO membrane, since chloramines can degrade membrane material over time if they aren’t removed first.

Stage 3: The RO Membrane

The semipermeable membrane is where the core filtration happens. Its pores are fine enough to block dissolved contaminants that carbon can’t address: lead, arsenic, nitrates, fluoride, sodium, and many PFAS compounds. Contaminants that don’t pass through are flushed away as a small volume of concentrate that drains normally.

Stage 4: Post-Filter

Before water reaches your faucet, a post-filter polishes it, removing any remaining taste or odor. Purified water is stored in a pressurized tank under the sink and delivered on demand through a dedicated RO faucet. Most systems can also supply the refrigerator water and ice line.
