Cured-in-Place Pipe Lining

Cured-in-Place Pipe Lining in Sugar Land

Trenchless Sewer Restoration Backed by Nearly 50 Years of Service

Cured-in-place pipe lining, or CIPP, is a trenchless method of restoring a damaged sewer pipe by inserting a resin-saturated liner inside the existing pipe and curing it into a hard, seamless new pipe within the old one. No long trench. No torn-up yard. S&B Plumbing provides this service to residential and commercial properties throughout Sugar Land and the greater Houston area.

Why Sugar Land Property Owners Call S&B Plumbing

We’ve been serving Sugar Land since 1976, and as a 3rd-generation family-owned business, our reputation is built one job at a time. Our licensed plumbing professionals have worked with more than 100,000 customers across Sugar Land and the surrounding Houston area. When a sewer problem comes up, we offer same-day appointments so you’re not left waiting.

How the CIPP Process Works

The process begins with a camera inspection to pinpoint the exact location and extent of the damage. That information drives every decision that follows.

Once the pipe is assessed, here’s what happens:

  • Liner insertion: A flexible liner coated in epoxy resin is fed into the damaged pipe through an existing access point, typically a sewer cleanout.
  • Inflation: The liner is inflated so it presses firmly against the interior walls of the original pipe, conforming to its shape.
  • Curing: The resin hardens, forming a smooth, jointless pipe inside the old one.
  • Final inspection: A second camera pass confirms the cured liner has sealed cracks and restored proper flow.

Signs Your Sugar Land Sewer Line May Need Attention

CIPP is designed to seal cracks, stop leaks, and address root intrusion and corrosion from the inside. A few warning signs suggest a sewer line problem worth investigating:

  • Multiple drains clogging at the same time, which points to the main line rather than a single fixture
  • Gurgling sounds from drains or persistent sewage odors inside the home
  • Soggy patches or unusually green grass above a buried sewer line in the yard

These symptoms don’t always mean a full replacement is needed. A camera inspection tells us whether the pipe has enough structural integrity for lining.

CIPP vs. Pipe Bursting vs. Full Sewer Line Replacement

Not every damaged pipe is a candidate for lining. Choosing the right method depends on the condition of the pipe and the nature of the damage. We work with all common sewer pipe materials, including clay, cast iron, concrete, copper, polybutylene, and steel.

  • Cured-in-place pipe lining is suited to pipes with cracks, leaks, root intrusion, or corrosion where the original pipe still has enough structure to guide and support the liner.
  • Pipe bursting fractures the old pipe outward while pulling a new one through the same path. It’s an option when a line is too degraded to support a liner.
  • Traditional replacement involves excavating a trench along the full length of the damaged line. It remains necessary when a pipe is collapsed, severely misaligned, or has structural failure that neither trenchless method can address.

Why Trenchless Lining Makes Sense for Sugar Land Properties

Fort Bend County sits on expansive clay soil that swells and contracts with moisture changes, putting ongoing stress on buried pipe joints. Excavating through that dense clay for a full replacement is more disruptive than a trenchless approach, and the disturbed soil can take time to restabilize. Homes built in earlier decades are also more likely to have cast iron or clay sewer laterals that have accumulated corrosion and root intrusion over time, making them candidates for CIPP rather than immediate replacement.
